WHY CARDIFF? Eat the birds newest location

The ‘diff. A land seemingly far away from our Devon roots but very close to my heart. It was here that I spent many a day visiting my brother, who went to University here and subsequently put down roots in the city.

Coming from a relatively small city by the sea like Exeter, the close-knit feel of the Welsh capital seemed like a natural step for us.

The people are friendly, the vibe is incredible and the food scene is unparalleled. With our street food roots, we were drawn to a city that shares a love for various styles of food. The city is heaven for people like us from Streetfood Circus to the Depot to the incredible Sticky Fingers.

A city that looks after and nurtures street food businesses is a place we want to be. Fantastic success stories like Brother Thai and Fowl and Fury are just 2 shining examples of how the locals support a thriving scene and lift up those who want to take the next step.

We love a Truck to Triumph story. We’ve been there ourselves and it’s that spirit that lives on in us. It’s what we call Street Spirit.

Friendly welcomes, treating every customer like a celebrity, and enthusiasm, love, and passion for what we do and the food we serve.

We’ve been there in freezing tents and boiling hot trailers cooking our hearts out and we still go back and sling shapes in one now again like our freezing cold time at Exeter Christmas market where I couldn’t feel my toes for a month or when we compete at Wingfest.

It’s a scene that will forever be in our hearts. It’s the camaraderie and the networks that get created that are unparalleled. Or that glanced look that you share with another trader when you catch their eye across the food court after taking a pasting during the dinner rush, that conveys the emotional damage that you feel but at the same time you both know you’re on top of the world and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

So when we took strides over the bridge, it’s being part of this scene that really tickled our fancy. We want to create partnerships with up-and-coming local brands. We’ve got exciting collabs coming up with Kapow Ribs from Barry and the absolute heroes at Fire and Flank that we hope will be the start of some very special comings together of passionate minds.

Meteors of flavour coming together at full speed and lighting up what is already a very bright food scene. One that we’re very honoured and proud to be a part of.
